In the interview printed as the cover story, he discusses the broad spectrum of research into novel energy storage systems at CEEC Jena - from supercapacitors to partly printable flexible polymer batteries, battery systems for large stationary storage units and photocatalytic hydrogen production. An overview of the priority programme SPP 2248 "Polymer-based batteries", which is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and co-ordinated by him, is of course also included.
In addition, he provides information about the new research buildings currently under construction, CEEC Jena II, the application centre connected to it and the new incubator building "Lab2fab" built by the Jena Technology and Innovation Park.
